Ricki and Kellee’s #MustReadIn2018

Share

#MustReadIn2018 is hosted by Carrie Gelson at There Is A Book For That:

“For anyone out there with a To Be Read list that seems like it will never end, this challenge is for you! This is all about making your own personal list of books (5? 10? 20? 30? more?) that you commit to reading in 2016. Books can be published in any year, be from any genre, and be from any category (adult, YA, MG, Graphics, NF, etc.).  As your TBR list grows, you promise you will get to the books on this list.”

You will find our hopeful 2018 must read lists below. Some are books that we keep telling ourselves that we will read (but never got around to reading), some are new books that we are really excited about, and some are books that we simply need to read because we promised someone that we would read them. We focused on MG and YA literature for our lists, but do not worry–we’ll still be reading picture books, too!

Now without further adieu:

Kellee’s #mustreadin2018

Okay, so I am being super ambitious this year. First, I have a few authors that I am going to try to read multiple books from because I either love their work, haven’t read anything by them, or am Skyping with them with my book club, so I just listed the author. Then, I made a list of books I really want to read either because my students love them or I just have wanted to read it for a while. Finally, I added a few copies of books that my students asked me to add to the list. All of this equaled a crazy list that I may not get through, but I love it!

  2. Excited! Excited! Excited! This is one of my favourite days of the year reading all of these lists. Kellee, shhh or not, I am going to INSIST that you start your reading ASAP of novels by Gae Polisner. All of her books become my absolute favourites! Can’t wait to talk titles with you! And Me and Marvin Gardens – how I loved this one! Ricki, we share some titles – including The 57 Bus, Ghost Boys and A Land of Permanent Goodbyes. I just finished Dear Martin. Wow! Excited to share a year of reading with both of you! I think I mentioned the excited part!:-)

  3. One thing I especially love about these lists is that there are both old and new books on both – I’m guilty of usually forgetting to read books that have been out for a while and simply feeding off the New Book shelf! I’m going to steal these lists and read along with you both this year…

  4. We share some titles, and I would urge you, Kellee, as Carrie does, to read some of Gae Polisner’s work. I also have loved the False Prince trilogy & wish I had time to read more of her books. Rickie, I also have some of your titles on my list like The 57 Bus and Dear Martin. There’s much to love about all these lists. Have an exciting new year reading!

  5. The Serpent’s Secret is not on my #mustread list, but it’s definitely one I want to read. I have had Piecing Me Together for a bit and still haven’t gotten to it. I’ve heard great things about it so it should be on my list, too!

  6. Reading these lists make me realize just how much reading I need/want to do! Since I started working on my masters, my reading has taken a dive. But seeing all these lists is working on me!

  7. Kelle, I am excited by your list. You are in for a special treat with Eric Gansworth. I have his most recent book on this year’s list. I adored The True Meaning of Smekday (you must listen to the audiobook)
I’ve also got Mitali Perkins on my list and am hoping to read Ban This Book by Alan Gratz.
Rickie, Dear Martin and Piecing Me Together are on my list also. You have many books on your list that are new to me, but if the ones I have read are any indication, you will have a fabulous time reading these.

  8. Kellee, I love your list. Yes, ambitious, but you also have some flexibility with some of the authors. With Riordan, I love that the series you haven’t read are completed. Since you seem to have read Percy Jackson, I think Heroes of Olympus is the next best place to start. I also really loved The Ascendance Trilogy (False Prince). I also really liked all of the Dan Gemeinhart books, and had to add Good Dog for this year. I am also really excited to start Thunderhead this week, I got a NetGalley copy. Happy Reading!

  9. Kellee, your list is A List. I love that you’re focusing on new to you authors as well as specific books. I wish I had done that with Tennessee Williams instead of committing to a specific play. Oh well.

I look forward to seeing how you both progress through the challenge!
