It’s Monday! What are you Reading? is a meme hosted by Sheila at Book Journeys. Last Week’s Journeys
Kellee: I cannot wait for break because these last couple of weeks have seemed so hectic! I have mostly read picture books and haven’t really been able to just sit and read. I hope to end the year with a high note during break though because I plan to fill it with read! I am still reading Persepolis but WILL finish it this week. I did have a chance to read a wordless graphic novel Fish Fish Fish by Lee Nordling which kids will definitely love. Trent and I read some books that are perfect for this time of year: Santa Goes Everywhere! by Brian Biggs, Catch That Cookie! by Hallie Durand, and The Polar Express by Chris Van Allsburg. The Polar Express took a couple of days, but it was such a joy to read it with me. I actually have a silver bell, so when Santa gave the silver bell to the boy, I gave one to Trent and now have a super cute and special photo.
Ricki: Uh oh. Please don’t judge me, but I didn’t finish any of my books this week. This is a consequence of the fact that I am reading six books and listening to three more.
This Week’s Expeditions
Kellee: One more week of school until I can read a lot more. I am going to finish Persepolis. That’s my plan right now. And, of course, reading with Trent.
Ricki: Like many readers, I have a list of books that I never got to. Get ready and hang onto your chair… I have never read Harry Potter. I fell asleep during the movies, so I never had interest in reading the series. I am listening to the audiobook in my car right now.

I hear you both on the busy! It’s the season. Hopefully during the holidays more reading time will open up. Ricki- I had never read Harry Potter either until I started reading the titles in advance of reading them aloud to my children. They make great read alouds! Of course, that is years away! Enjoy the reading time you get with your boys.
Thank you for not judging me! I guess my days of hearing, “YOU HAVEN’T READ IT?” are soon over. 🙂
It is crazy how busy this time of the year is! I feel like I am not doing anything, but I am always busy!

Kellee, I love that you had a bell to give Trent when reading The Polar Express. When my daughter was younger, we were able to take a Polar Express train ride. That was fun!
Ricki, don’t feel bad. I’ve had those weeks when I have been in the middle of lots of books and finished none. What do you think of the Harry Potter audio? I’ve heard such good things about it, but I’ve never listened to it. I love the books, though, and have read the entire series multiple times. I’ve also (nearly) finished the Safistfied Customers book. It has lots of good ideas, [primarliy addressed to businesses) but it is somewhat dated since it was published in 2008. Some of the technology has already changed. (Google Reader no longer exists). I wasn’t familiar with some of the other tools, but they may be changed, too. I did find the book very readable and thought provoking. I hope that helps you decide if your sister would enjoy it.
Kay, thank you so much for your help about the book. I just ordered two different books. My sister always likes to be up-to-date, so she would poo-poo a dated book. Ha. The audio book is quite good. He does an incredible job with the voices. I think it is Jim Dale, and he is, so far, one of the best audio book readers I have come across.

Ricki, last week was the first week all year when I didn’t finish any books. I managed to get a couple of picture books read, but that was it. Like you, I was in the middle of a bunch of books and did manage to finish a big stack this week. Bring on the December #bookaday! I hope you will enjoy the Harry Potters on audio. I really don’t care for books 1 and 2–but I think book 3 is marvelous.
You are going to make me wait it out until book three?! Ha. So far, I enjoy it. It isn’t my favorite audio book, but it is certainly entertaining. My friend just loaned me East of Eden on audio. He expects me to listen to all 22 CDs—and soon. So I suspect that is my next project.
I semi-agree. I liked #2 on. Number 1 I compare to a pilot of a TV show. It is good, but she didn’t have everything figured out yet. And then #4 on just blow me away.
No guilt, please! I hope you both have a lovely time taking time off… Enjoy what you can read, forget the rest.
