It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? From Picture Books to YA!
It’s Monday! What are you Reading? is a meme started by Sheila at Book Journeys and now hosted by Kathryn at The Book Date. It is a great way to recap what you read and/or reviewed the previous week and to plan out your reading and reviews for the upcoming week. It’s also a great chance to see what others are reading right now…you just might discover the next “must-read” book!
Kellee and Jen, of Teach Mentor Texts, decided to give It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? a kidlit focus. If you read and review books in children’s literature – picture books, chapter books, middle grade novels, young adult novels, anything in the world of kidlit – join us! We love this meme and think you will, too.
We encourage everyone who participates to support the blogging community by visiting at least three of the other book bloggers that link up and leave comments for them.

Ah. The start of the school year. There is no tired like the first week of school tired. And that tired means very little reading; however, it does mean I’m back to driving 25 miles each way daily, so it allows for great audiobook listening time. I LOVED Highly Illogical Behavior! I am so glad that Ricki told me to listen to it–it is definitely a winning audiobook.

My sister is getting married, so I am flying back to Connecticut this week and weekend. I’m sorry I’ll miss you all!
This Week’s Expeditions
Kellee
- Currently reading: Unsouled by Neal Shusterman – I need to get going because I want to get through it and the final book in the series before the ebook expires from the library! And I have Scythe to read for my faculty book club on 8/8, so I need to finished the Unwind Dystology to start Shusterman’s new series.
- Currently reading: Gamer Squad: Attack of the Not-So-Virtual Monsters by Kim Harrington – These are going to be loved by my students! Perfect for a fans of monster fantasy, video games, and Pokemon.
- Currently listening to: The Smell of Other People’s Houses by Bonnie-Sue Hitchcock – I have read 3 of the 5 Walden honorees, so I grabbed this one when I saw that the audibook was available from my library.

I was very excited for the Serpent King to win the Walden.
I’m so glad you enjoyed Highly Illogical Behavior. I might have to listen to it, since I read it with my eyes. As a reader, John Corey Whaley never lets me down. The Smell of Other People’s Houses is now available as an audiobook, so of course I have downloaded it and as soon as I finish Do Not Say We Have Nothing, I’ll start it!
What?? Schusterman has a new series? How’d I miss that? I am really getting behind – he’s one of my favorite authors, so I will look for that. I just totally skipped a couple of seasons of book catalogs because I have such a huge pile of TBRs here!
Hope you enjoy the wedding and the time with family, Ricki!
Welcome back to school, Kellee, and hope you both enjoy your books this week! Last week of summer vacation here.

Kellee, I really like Gamer Squad, the kids are going to love it and it was such a good concept to hook gamers!
Ricki, I wish there was a class like yours when I was studying! Looks fantastic!
I loved Highly Illogical Behavior. Glad you enjoyed it! And I’m so glad you’re listening to The Smell of Other People’s Houses. I both read and listened to the audio and I loved both experiences.
